Baruto won against yusho winner Hakuho, so it's no zensho yusho for the yokozuna after all. Kisenosato lost the other bout of the day to Kotoshogiku but it looks like the bout wasn't so important after all as he may get the ozeki promotion even with the 10-5 score. The gino-sho he got is pretty telling evidence here I think, why else should he right now get his first career gino-sho. The basho wasn't ending on a strong side for him, going 1-4 against the yokozuna and ozeki, but it may have been in his favour now that he always was coming along as gachinko in these troubled times, so there are no hinkaku questions.
Goeido and Tochinowaka fell to make-koshi, letting the possibly two open sanyaku spots slip away. I think Miyabiyama and jun-yusho winner Wakakoyu are in the best position to claim them. Wakakoyu also is getting sansho after 76 career basho, a kanto-sho along with his opponent shin-nyumaku Aoiyama who also is getting a kanto-sho.
Kaisei won to definitely stay in makuuchi and Tamawashi's win also might let him stay as he would be #7 in the demotion order. The promotees to makuuchi will probably be Yoshiazuma, Tenkaiho, Chiyonokuni, Takanoyama, Tosayutaka, Nionoumi and Kyokushuho. This will be makuuchi debuts for Tenkaiho, Chiyonokuni, Nionoumi and Kyokushuho.
